Amazon Prime settlement: how to claim up to $51 before July 27

If you signed up for Amazon Prime through a checkout screen you didn't fully intend, or tried to cancel and couldn't figure out how, you can likely claim up to $51 from the FTC's $2.5 billion order against Amazon — with no receipts and no documentation. The catch: the claim window closes July 27, 2026.

What this settlement is about

In FTC v. Amazon, the Federal Trade Commission alleged that Amazon enrolled shoppers in Prime through deceptive checkout flows — so-called dark patterns — and then made cancelling deliberately difficult. The resulting order includes a $1 billion civil penalty and $1.5 billion set aside for consumer refunds, one of the largest consumer redress funds the FTC has ever obtained.

Who qualifies

You're eligible if you enrolled in Prime between June 23, 2019 and June 23, 2025 through one of the challenged sign-up flows (for example, during checkout), or you tried to cancel and were unable to — and you used fewer than 10 Prime benefits (deliveries, streams, and so on) in a 12-month period after enrolling. Amazon already sent automatic refunds to members who used 3 or fewer benefits; if you received one of those, you can't claim again. Everyone else who qualifies must file.

How much you can get

Up to $51 per eligible member. Eligibility is checked against Amazon's own records, which is why no documentation is required — the claim form takes a few minutes.
