Google Assistant privacy settlement: $18–$56 per device — what the claim form needs

What this settlement is about
In re Google Assistant Privacy Litigation (N.D. Cal.) alleged that Assistant-enabled devices activated on 'False Accepts' — recording conversations when no one said the wake word — and that Google disclosed some of those recordings to third-party human review vendors. The settlement covers an unusually long window: May 18, 2016 through March 19, 2026.
Who qualifies and how much
Two tiers. Purchasers of Google-made Assistant devices (Google Home, Nest speakers and displays, Pixel phones, and similar) claim an estimated $18–$56 per device, up to three devices. People whose communications were captured via a False Accept or shared with review vendors — but who didn't buy a device — claim a smaller $2–$10 payment. Only the purchaser tier needs documents.
How to file
Claims are due August 27, 2026, with final approval set for October 1, 2026.
