Sprouts receipt settlement: an equal share of $5M for card digits printed on receipts

If you paid with your own credit or debit card at a Sprouts Farmers Market store between August 16, 2020 and October 31, 2022 — or with an EBT card between March 15, 2021 and April 15, 2023 — and got a printed receipt, you can claim an equal share of a $5 million settlement. What this settlement is about
Federal law (FACTA) says a printed receipt may show at most the last five digits of your card number. Consolidated class actions in Los Angeles Superior Court (Tran/Cohen v. Sprouts, No. 22STCV26572) alleged that Sprouts registers printed more than that. Sprouts denies wrongdoing and has adopted a written receipt-truncation policy as part of the settlement.

The class covers anyone who used a personal credit/debit card at any U.S. Sprouts store in the card window (or an EBT card in the EBT window) and received an electronically printed receipt showing more than five card digits. After fees and costs, roughly $2.58 million is split equally among everyone who files a valid claim — so the fewer claims, the bigger each check.
