Hyundai / Kia Airbag Control Unit

Against Hyundai Motor America, Kia America & Mobis

The same defective ZF-TRW airbag control units as the Toyota settlement, for Hyundai and Kia vehicles — up to $350 per valid claim if your vehicle was recalled, $150 if it wasn't, with no out-of-pocket loss required. Claims are open until April 8, 2027.

About this settlement

This $62.1 million settlement resolves claims in the ZF-TRW Airbag Control Units MDL against Hyundai, Kia and Mobis over airbag control units vulnerable to electrical overstress that could prevent airbag deployment. It covers certain 2010–2023 Hyundai and Kia models; the official site's VIN lookup confirms coverage. Every class member with a valid claim receives a payment — up to $350 for recalled vehicles and up to $150 for non-recalled ones — without needing to show out-of-pocket loss. Final approval was granted October 8, 2025, and the claim deadline runs to April 8, 2027. ClaimBridge finds it, lays out what registering takes, and readies your registration as a class member. What you can claim: a residual payment of up to $350 if your vehicle was recalled, or up to $150 if it wasn't — and separately, reimbursement of what the airbag control unit problem actually cost you. That second part is where the money is and it has no published cap: unreimbursed ACU repair bills, a rental car or other transport, towing to a Hyundai or Kia dealer, childcare while the recall work was done, and lost wages for dropping the car off and picking it up. Bring a receipt or invoice for each — or a signed affidavit if you no longer have one. If you have the Unique ID from your postcard or email notice you need no further proof of ownership; without it, a title, registration, purchase or lease agreement, or an insurance document showing your name and VIN will do. You can file with just your VIN.

Who is eligible?

  • You currently or formerly owned or leased a covered 2010–2023 Hyundai or Kia vehicle equipped with a ZF-TRW airbag control unit.
  • The official VIN lookup at the settlement site confirms whether your vehicle qualifies.
